Glossary: Wallet-Level Attribution
Wallet-level attribution connects a source, channel, campaign, partner, or referral to a specific wallet and the wallet's later product or onchain outcomes.
What is Wallet-Level Attribution?
Wallet-level attribution connects a source, channel, campaign, partner, or referral to a specific wallet and the wallet’s later outcomes. It preserves the individual wallet as the analytical unit so teams can inspect acquisition, activation, activity, revenue, and retention for that wallet under explicit model and attribution-window rules.
How wallet-level attribution works
Capture the acquisition touchpoint, preserve it across the relevant journey, associate the wallet when it becomes known, and apply first-touch, last-touch, or another documented model. Then attach eligible outcomes to the wallet. Cross-domain persistence, returning sessions, attribution windows, and identity resolution determine whether the chain remains intact.
Wallet-level attribution example
A visitor arrives through a partner referral, returns directly two days later, connects a wallet, and completes a transaction. First-touch attribution associates the wallet with the partner; last-touch attribution may credit the direct return, depending on the rules. The wallet record retains the chosen source alongside later activity.
Common mistakes
Do not assume the last website session always deserves credit or overwrite source history when a wallet returns. Avoid mixing wallet-level attribution with aggregated campaign results. Volume attribution credits value moved, while wallet-level attribution identifies the acquired wallet; one wallet can contribute little or substantial value.
Using Wallet-Level Attribution in practice
Use wallet-level attribution to inspect the source and downstream quality of individual wallets, build attributed cohorts, compare activation and retention, and support campaign-level reporting. Preserve first-touch and last-touch fields when possible so analysts can compare models without rewriting the underlying journey.

FAQs
How is wallet-level attribution different from onchain attribution?
Onchain attribution is the broader practice; wallet-level attribution keeps one wallet and its outcomes as the reporting unit.
Is wallet-level attribution the same as volume attribution?
No. Wallet-level attribution identifies the wallet and source, while volume attribution credits an amount of transaction value.
Can one wallet have first-touch and last-touch sources?
Yes. Keeping both fields lets teams compare attribution models without discarding the wallet’s source history.

Account Abstraction
Account abstraction is an approach that turns blockchain accounts into programmable smart contract wallets, enabling features like gasless transactions, social recovery, session keys, and paying fees in any token.
Activation Rate
Activation rate is the percentage of new users or wallets that complete a key activation milestone, such as a first transaction, out of all users who signed up or connected within a given period.
Active Users
Active users are distinct users, accounts, visitors, wallets, or wallet clusters that complete a defined meaningful action during a specified period; the chosen identity unit and activity rule determine the result.
