Crypto A/B Test Significance Calculator

Enter each variant’s wallets and conversions to instantly calculate statistical significance and relative uplift.

What Is Statistical Significance?

Statistical significance tells you whether a difference between two results is a real effect or just random noise. In an A/B test, it answers the question every experimenter actually cares about: did variant B really outperform variant A, or did it just get lucky with a small sample?

Significance is typically measured with a two-proportion z-test on conversion rates — 95%+ confidence is the usual bar for calling a result real.

In crypto, A/B tests usually compare wallet conversion rate between two versions of a landing page, onboarding flow, or minting experience. Because wallet connect and transaction volumes can be smaller than typical web traffic, checking significance before declaring a winner matters even more — small sample sizes make random swings look like real improvements.

Why significance matters more with small samples

Crypto funnels often have far fewer conversions than a typical ecommerce funnel — hundreds of wallet connects rather than thousands of purchases. With small samples, it’s easy for a 20% relative uplift to be pure noise. Checking for statistical significance before shipping a variant protects you from rolling out a “winner” that isn’t actually better.

Significance vs. uplift

Relative uplift tells you how much better one variant performed; significance tells you how much you should trust that number. A 30% uplift at 60% confidence is a coin flip dressed up as a result, while a 10% uplift at 98% confidence is a real, reliable improvement — always read the two together, not uplift alone.

How to use it:

  1. Enter wallets and conversions for variant A.

  2. Enter wallets and conversions for variant B.

  3. Instantly see each variant’s conversion rate, relative uplift, and statistical confidence.

  4. Only ship the winning variant once confidence clears your bar — typically 95% or higher — and use Formo to track the rollout’s real-world impact.

Formo tracks wallet-level conversion data for every variant automatically, so you always know when a test has run long enough to trust.
