What Is a Conversion Rate?

A conversion rate is the percentage of people who complete a desired action out of everyone who had the chance to. It’s the standard way to measure how effectively a funnel, whether a website, an app, or a marketing campaign, turns opportunity into outcome.

Conversion rate = (number of conversions ÷ total visitors) × 100

For a crypto app, a conversion might mean a wallet connection, a signup, or a first transaction. Define the action clearly and compare the same funnel stage over time.

Conversion rate in crypto vs. web2

In web2, conversion rate almost always means a sale, signup, or lead form. In crypto, there’s an extra step: a visitor first needs a wallet, then needs to use it. That’s why crypto conversion rate is usually reported as two linked rates, visitor-to-connect and connect-to-transact, rather than one single number. Looking at both separately shows whether people are dropping off before they even connect a wallet, or after connecting but before transacting.

Examples of conversion rates in crypto:

  • Visitor-to-connect rate: the share of visitors who connect a wallet. A proxy for how compelling your landing page and onboarding are.

  • Connect-to-transact rate: the share of connected wallets that go on to complete a transaction. A proxy for how clear and low-friction your core flow is.

  • Overall conversion rate: transacting wallets divided by total visitors. The blended, top-to-bottom number most teams report externally.

How to use it:

  1. Enter your total visitors, wallet connections, and wallets that completed a transaction.

  2. Instantly see your visit-to-connect rate, connect-to-transact rate, and overall conversion rate.

  3. Benchmark each stage of your funnel to find where the biggest drop-off happens.

  4. Use Formo to track this funnel automatically across every campaign, channel, and chain.

What is a good conversion rate?

A useful conversion rate depends on the action and audience. A wallet connect is easier than a first transaction, and a warm community referral may convert differently from a paid ad. Compare the same step, channel, device, and time period over time. Look for improvement and for users who keep using the product after converting, instead of relying on a single industry benchmark.

Why conversion rate matters more than traffic

More visitors can increase conversions, but it also raises acquisition spend. If 10,000 visitors convert at 1%, you get 100 conversions. Improving that rate to 2% yields 200 conversions from the same traffic. For dapps, fixing a wallet-connect or transaction bottleneck can make existing campaigns more productive before you buy more clicks.

How to improve your conversion rate

Start at the stage with the largest drop-off. Match the landing page to the ad promise, make the next action obvious, reduce wallet and chain friction, and explain transaction costs before signing. Measure each change against a stable baseline and check whether newly converted users remain active.
