What Is a Bounce Rate?
Bounce rate is the percentage of visitors, or in this case, connected wallets, who never take the next meaningful action and effectively abandon the funnel. It’s a signal of friction: people showed enough interest to arrive, but something stopped them from going further.
Bounce rate = wallets that connected but never transacted ÷ total wallet connections × 100
In crypto, bounce rate captures the gap between wallet connection and a wallet’s first onchain transaction. A high bounce rate usually means people are willing to connect but hit a wall: gas costs, unfamiliar UI, unsupported chains, or insufficient balance, before completing anything of value.
Bounce rate in crypto vs. web2
Web2 bounce rate usually means a visitor left a page without any interaction at all. Crypto bounce rate is more specific: it isolates wallets that took the trouble to connect, a real signal of intent, but still never transacted. That makes it a sharper diagnostic of first-transaction friction than generic web bounce metrics.

Bounce rate and activation rate are two sides of the same funnel: bounce rate + activation rate = 100% of connected wallets.
