Formo’s average session duration is the mean of each web session’s observed active time, calculated from gaps between consecutive tracked events. Gaps over 30 minutes are excluded and a session with one event contributes zero seconds, so this metric does not capture passive reading time.
Average Session Duration Explained
Formo estimates observed active time from the timestamps of events it receives during each session. It cannot see time spent reading or thinking when no event is recorded.
For web analytics, Formo groups events using its daily session ID; duration is the sum of consecutive event gaps of 30 minutes or less. A single-event session has a duration of zero.
For example, if one person spends 2 minutes, another spends 4 minutes, and another spends 6 minutes, the average session duration is 4 minutes.
This metric helps teams understand whether users are spending enough time to read, explore, complete actions, or get value from the product.
